good skills in parenting
frequently, my mom would ask me to go do chores. However, it isn't asked like a normal question would be. She would be like "Jess, want to get the laundry for me?" That way I have no choice but to answer, "yeah sure" On one hand, it's like why don't you just tell me instead of asking? On the other, it's nice of her to ask, instead of barking out orders. I think this is a good parenting skill that she developed while raising my sister and I.
being nice and kind has it's own reward
I was taught to respect all people, and not to hold grudges. This might seem tough at certain times but it really is a reward in itself. Maybe you're in a difficult situation, and someone you run into will help you out in return of a good deed you did for them. I also believe in the idea of 'bad things happen to good people' and I can count a handful of times when that has happened to either me or my family or friends. Karma eventually will find it's way back to you, and it repays three times.
stopping ourselves of using certain words
we all have done it, called each other or someone else (or even ourselves) a 'retard' or that's so 'gay' instead of stupid. Me being inflicted with both terms and groups of people is saying one thing but saying it and thinking that we aren't harming someone else that isn't present is another. A young teenager joking around using those words is just as stupid. If you're old enough to undertand the latest fad going around, then your old enough to have some common sense and stop yourself before having that word come out of your mouth. So think twice before you say something, you don't know who you're insulting. This isn't to say I'm perfect, hell I know nobody is, but I've gotten better and earned self-awareness.

my ironic story that I wrote
a few years ago I had the idea of writing a story, I titled it 'burning heaven.' Ironic right? Anyways, I used the idea for a final paper that I did for my Lit & Comp class. I had the idea of a girl who had a posessed spirit inside of her. I wanted to write a narrative about the rare and strange occurrences of demonic possession. I thought “what could happen to a character when they are faced with an inner power struggle and what lengths a friend would have to take to save someone she really cares about.” I never got around to give it a decent ending.
corporate america is shitty
who else thinks corporate America should burn in a ditch? I do! Not that I don't think being proud of what you earn/do for a living is a bad idea, I just don't like how one day there will be no middle class thanks to all these big markets closing in on the gap of not being able to live comfortably on a normal salary. What do they want us to do? Work a million hours a week just to get by? It may seem like that's the inevitable choice we will all have to make. I wouldn't be surprised if I'll die working, that seems likely every day that goes by.
